By this point, most of you must have seen the horrific damages that Hurricane Harvey has done in Texas, whether it be on the news or social media. So far, local officials have said there have been at least 38 deaths in Texas that are suspected to be related to the storm. Tens of thousands of people have remained in extremely overcrowded shelters overnight. It has been estimated that 30,000 – 40,000 homes have been destroyed so far and the storm is still on the move as I write this post.
As some of you who follow me on social media are aware, I’ve been part of a blogging group for the past few months. Our group consists of 37 of us from around the world. I have met some incredible queens along the way.
Unfortunately, a lovely girl from our group has been terribly affected by Hurricane Harvey. Her home is amongst the thousands of homes lost in the storm. This means that nature has made her and her little boy homeless, they’ve lost everything. We are all extremely grateful and relieved to know they are safe right now. However, they have nothing to go back to.
I have set up a page on Go Fund Me to raise as much money as we can to help her and her son get back on their feet once the storm is over. For the month of September, all profits made from my merch will be added to the Go Fund Me page and ALL earnings from this post will also be added to the fund.
I know that not all of us can afford to donate. But the power of social media can be truly amazing. As bloggers, YouTubers and influencers, we have the power to share anything we want with our followers, I think if we can use that to share something like this then that’s even better. Whether you have a lot of followers or not, someone may be able to donate and help. A simple retweet, repost and share can make a difference. And of course, if you’re reading this and are able to donate something even as low as £5, that would already be a huge help.
Please retweet/share the link across your social media to spread the word. Thank you in advance for everyone sharing and those who have donated so far.
My thoughts are with all of those affected. I can’t even begin to imagine what you’ve all been going through for the past few days. I will be keeping you all in my thoughts. Please stay safe.
